How to identify them
Lined snakes are small with drab gray brown to olive backs. They have three stripes. Their bellies are pale yellow with two rows of black semi-circles.
Where they live
Lined snakes are nocturnal and semi-fossorial. That means you are going to have to look very hard to find them! Semi-fossorial means that they are adapted to living in the soil and under things like rocks, leaves, and logs.
What they eat
They eat earthworms and other critters that live in the soil, like potato bugs.
