Snapshot Wisconsin is a statewide network of trail cameras. People around the state place the cameras on their land or public lands in places where they know wildlife often travel. The people who have volunteered to monitor cameras regularly visit them and upload the images that were captured to a central location.
Sometimes the animals in the pictures are easy to identify. Sometimes the picture is blurry, or the animal was too close to the camera, or the animal was moving so fast that only the tip of the tail is seen in the picture. Test your ID skills with this beginner's set of pictures. If these are too easy, let us know, and we will add a more challenging set!
Thanks to Snapshot Wisconsin for sharing these great photos!
Snapshot Wisconsin is a volunteer-based project using a statewide network of trail cameras to monitor wildlife year-round. The project provides data needed for wildlife management decision support within the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). It also offers a unique opportunity for individuals, families, and students to get involved in monitoring our state’s valuable natural resources.
You can find out more about hosting a trail camera, classifying animals captured by the cameras, and understanding more about where wildlife live around the state by visiting Snapshot Wisconsin (Leaves EEK!).
Snapshot in the Classroom (Leaves EEK!) has lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, and flashcards for use with students in grades K through 12.
